From the Irish Countryside, For Dogs Like Ours

Paws to Whiskers started the way most good ideas do — not in a boardroom, but on a muddy lane in rural Ireland, surrounded by dogs who couldn't care less about business plans and just wanted their walk.

We're an independent, family-run Irish company, based in the countryside rather than a warehouse in a city somewhere. That matters to us, because it means every decision we make about what to stock comes from actually living with dogs, not just selling to people who do.

Over the years we've shared our home and our land with Spaniels, Labradors, German Shepherds, Pointers and Golden Retrievers — muddy paws through the back door, quiet campfire nights)the way a good dog. Between the lot of them we've patched up limping joints, dealt with the destructive boredom of an understimulated working breed, hosed down more filthy coats than we can count, and learned — the hard way, more than once — what actually works and what's just clever packaging.

That's the real reason this store exists. We got tired of buying products that looked great in a photo and fell apart, or worked, in real life on a real Irish farm, with real Irish weather and real Irish dogs.

Why we've chosen to focus on dogs

We've made the decision to focus exclusively on dog supplies going forward. Not because we don't love other animals — we do — but because dogs are what we know. It's the difference between someone who's read about something and someone who's lived it every single day for years. We'd rather do one thing properly than spread ourselves thin trying to be everything to everyone.

Every product we stock has to earn its place. We ask the same questions before adding anything to the shop: would we trust this with our own dog? Would it survive a wet Irish winter, a muddy field, and a Spaniel determined to destroy it within the hour? If the answer isn't a clear yes, it doesn't make the cut.
